“Restaurants at the Ayala Triangle Gardens” is located at the heart of the Makati Central Business District and surrounded by three major thoroughfares– Ayala, Paseo and Makati Avenues . It is always busy during the weekday, either lunch and dinner time. Expect to wait at least an hour to get a seat. Well, the trick is to come on a weekend when there are relatively lesser people dining at the restaurants.
There are a lot of restaurant choices with affordable price ranges such as Banapple (popular for desserts and pies, with branches in Quezon City); Bfast by Chef Laudico (with an all-day breakfast concept); Bon Chon Chicken (the “Korean-style” fried chicken famous in New York); Wee Nam Kee (a Singaporean franchise known for authentic Hainanese chick en rice); Omakase Japanese restaurant; Golden Spoon frozen yogurt bar, Pho 24 (Vietnamese food) Kanin Club (Filipino cuisine, famous for its Crispy Dinuguan); Amici (Italian); and Cara Mia (gelato).
Soon to open are Momo Café (American comfort food); Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf; and CBD (Cheesesteaks, Burgers and Drinks). All of these restaurants are open from 10 a.m.-10 p.m.
Ayala Triangle Gardens have a special treat during the holidays through a seven-minute light-and-sound show daily titled “Symphony of Parols” from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. This runs until Dec. 23 but there are plans to extend it.
I got to watch it tonight after a food tour and I was mesmerized by the sights of Christmas rainbow amidst the Christmas carols playing in the background.
Voltaire de Jesus is the director behind the light and sound show which is by fantasy movies “Alice in Wonderland” and “Avatar” . Calling his work “whimsical”, he wanted the lights to veer away from the classic red-and-green Christmas theme.
Lights used are 100-percent eco-friendly LED lights which consume 78 percent less energy than regular ones. According to De Jesus, power consumption dropped From 58,000 watts used last year to 5,000 watts with the LED upgrade.
Expect an instrumental medley of Christmas classics (“Sleigh Ride,” “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town”) and contemporary hits (José Mari Chan’s “Christmas in Our Hearts”) performed by seven musicians that showcase indigenous instruments such as the kulintang, kuping and bamboo zither.
